Even today, Oribe ceramics are a bold proposition.  With their organic shapes and embracing of natural forms, this genre becomes even more striking given its roots over 400 years ago. Oribe-yaki is named for the famous General and Tea Ceremony Master Furuta Oribe who is credited with heavily influencing the style.
