SASHIKO
Sashiko quilting stitched items were created to make them more durable, warmer and more beautiful. Firemen's gear, was layered & quilted to hold water and very tough, Furoshiki were sashiko stitched to reinforced to deal with heavy loads and wear. Bags, blankets, rugs and farm wear were all enhanced with sashiko at some time.
